In the US, some parents are suing Character.AI, alleging the AI companionship app has played a role in ruining their kids' lives, and in one case contributed to a 14-year old boy's decision to commit suicide. Teresa Heffernan talks with Jeff about longstanding concerns about technology that tricks people into thinking they're talking to a real person.
