Welcome to the Montauk Surf Report. I'm your host. Today is Tuesday, August 29, 2023.
The surf forecast for Montauk is calling for 2-3 foot waves with a slight chop. The swell is coming from the east-southeast and the wind is blowing from the south-southeast at 10-15 mph. The tide is low at 12:37 AM and high at 6:49 AM.
The conditions are fair for most surfers, but experienced surfers may want to wait for a bigger swell. The water temperature is 66 degrees Fahrenheit, so a spring suit is recommended.
Here are some of the best spots to surf in Montauk today:
Ditch Plains: This is a popular spot for both beginners and experienced surfers. The waves are usually clean and consistent.
Turtle Cove: This is a good spot for beginners and intermediates. The waves are smaller than at Ditch Plains, but they are also more sheltered from the wind.
Montauk Point: This is a good spot for experienced surfers. The waves can get big and powerful, but the views are amazing.
