In this episode, Lisa talks with Deatra Gonzalez who shares her experience working through the challenges she faced with her natural hair, owning to the mistakes that were made even since her childhood due to her use of several hair transitions from Jerri Curls to relaxers and now lace wigs. She also highlights her efforts to keep up the appearance she knew would make her father happy even though she would have to conceal the damage already done.

SHOW NOTES

Deatra is an experienced and licensed hairdresser. Having gone through several hair products, from jerry curls to relaxers among others, her hair suffered significant damage most importantly losing her edges and thinning out. Also struggling with the reality of having a family history of alopecia, she started working to build back the beauty of her natural hair.

This has been a very informative process, and she has started to see results but reversing the damage done by many of these products is no easy feat. While complimenting her natural hair with wigs, Deatra also works on regaining her confidence to hopefully rock her natural hair once more. Here are some key points from this episode:
