Patrick Hamilton joins us to discuss Itron’s evolution in the utility industry as well as how their OpenWay Riva Leak Sensor helps utilities better identify where their water is leaking into the ground.

Non-revenue water is an increasingly important topic to address in the utility industry. To summarize, it is the difference between how much water is produced by a utility and how much water they end up billing their customers for. While estimates vary by region, these leaks in the distribution network account for an average of 20% of total water produced by U.S. utilities. Patrick shares insight on this growing “epidemic” and how Itron’s leak sensing technology has its ears to the ground for where this is happening.
