Say It Loud Tim. #RTTBROS #Nightlight "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." - Matthew 7:21 (KJV) My friend Tim Smith wrote about the trap believers fall into when they know about God but don't really know Him. There is a difference between being a raving fan and a real follower of Christ. He pointed out that In our modern world of sports fandom, it's common to see people who are deeply passionate about their favorite teams. They know every statistic, can recite player biographies, and eagerly discuss game strategies with anyone who will listen. Yet, despite their enthusiasm and knowledge, they aren't actually members of the team they so ardently support. This scenario bears a striking resemblance to a spiritual truth that Jesus warned about in His teachings. Just as knowing everything about a sports team doesn't make you a player, simply knowing about Jesus or even speaking His name doesn't automatically make you a part of His kingdom. Many people today proudly wear the label of "Christian," much like fans wear their team's jerseys. They may attend church regularly, quote Scripture, or even perform good deeds in the name of faith. However, Jesus clearly states that not everyone who calls Him "Lord" will enter the kingdom of heaven. It's not about how well you can "talk up" Jesus or how many charitable acts you perform. Unlike buying a ticket to a game, you can't purchase your way into God's kingdom. The key difference lies in the nature of the relationship. True discipleship isn't about being a fan of Jesus; it's about being on His team. It's about having a genuine, personal relationship with Him that transforms your life from the inside out. This relationship is characterized by doing the will of the Father, not just knowing about it or talking about it. Just as some overzealous sports fans might delude themselves into thinking they're actually part of the team, there are those in religious circles who may believe they're "on God's team" simply because of their knowledge or outward actions. Jesus' words serve as a sobering reminder to examine our hearts and the true nature of our relationship with Him. As we reflect on this, let's ask ourselves: Are we merely fans of Jesus, or are we truly on His team? Are we simply going through the motions of religion, or are we in a transformative relationship with the living God? Let's ensure that our faith goes beyond knowledge and words, manifesting itself in a life aligned with God's will. Remember, in the game of eternity, it's not enough to cheer from the sidelines or wear the team colors. We must be active participants, our lives intertwined with Christ's in a genuine, life-changing relationship. So, let's make sure we're not just fans, but true members of God's team, living out His will in our daily lives. Say it loud Tim and say it again for the people in the back!
