I recently got an e-mail from a guy who was thinking about starting a Shopify store, and starting a business selling supplements, nootropics, and weed related items. He was asking if Shopify would allow him to operate a shop in those niches and selling those things. I thought this was a great leadway into talking about high risk industries, what it means to operate in a high risk industry, additional challenges that come with advertising and merchant processing ie taking payments, and basically what additional challenges that brings to running your business.

These are niches and items that can be very profitable to sell, the buyers of those niches spend a lot of money, they tend to be recurring buyers, and the margins are often great, but these industries do come with some additional challenges.

Many ecommerce sellers also worry about having their Shopify stores closed down. We also touch on the differences between Shopify and Shopify payments aka Stripe, and that how most of the issues tend to come from Shopify payment as opposed to Shopify themselves shutting you down. Shopify is a website building platform, that's all, they don't really care what you do providing your not breaking the law and not infringing on trademarks, outside of that if you're willing to pay Shopify $29 a month they don't really care.

Anyhow, this should be insightful to people who run Shopify stores in certain industries.
