On August 15, 2013, at approximately 12:26 p.m., a man reported that he had observed what he believed to be human remains in the area of Leah Court & Meadow Road, Lehigh Acres, Florida. The man was an employee of the Lee County Electric Cooperative (LCEC). Lee County Deputy Leslie Green responded and confirmed that the body of a deceased white male lay on the roadway inside Leah Court, an undeveloped cul-de-sac in a wooded area of Lehigh Acres.
The decedent had several physical defects that were consistent with gunshot wounds; one in his head, several in his torso, and one in his right forearm. There was extensive facial damage consistent with animal activity, likely due to the vultures observed on and around the body .
Using a finger print scanner to identify the decedent as Kyle Byrtus, a white male born on May 17, 1988.

If you have any information regarding this case, please call the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at (239) 477-1000 or report it anonymously with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS(8477). All callers to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward.

Tips may also be made online atwww.southwestfloridacrimestoppers.com or by submitting a tip on the P3Tips mobile app. Additionally, you can download the Lee County Sheriff’s Office app and report directly to Crime Stoppers.
