In this episode of Humanity Unfiltered, we explore the inspiring life of Bryan Stevenson, a renowned human rights attorney and the founder of the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI). Bryan has dedicated his career to fighting for the poor, incarcerated, and condemned, leading major efforts to eliminate unfair sentencing, exonerate innocent death row prisoners, and challenge abuse within the justice system. He’s argued landmark cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, including a ruling that banned mandatory life sentences for children 17 or younger.

Beyond the courtroom, Bryan has created national landmarks such as the Legacy Museum and the National Memorial for Peace and Justice, which document America’s painful history of slavery, lynching, and racial segregation, and their connection to mass incarceration. His work has earned him numerous prestigious awards, including the MacArthur “Genius” Prize and the Right Livelihood Award, and over 50 honorary degrees from top institutions like Harvard and Oxford.

Bryan’s bestselling book Just Mercy was adapted into a major motion picture and an Emmy Award-winning documentary, further amplifying his mission for justice and equality. His story is a testament to the power of perseverance and compassion.
