In this episode we speak to leading international horse shipping expert, Chris Burke, Managing Director of International Racehorse Transport based in Australia who tells us how seriously biosecurity is taken when working with horses worth millions of pounds.
We then talk to UK-based expert horse transporter, Julie Magnus, who has more than 20 years of experience moving horses around the UK and Europe. She shares her experience of Strangles and explains how she protects her horses and gives listeners top tips on how Strangles can be stopped in its tracks.
Strangles Awareness Week is a campaign that aims to promote openness around the disease and make biosecurity a part of every day horse care across the Equine Industry. The initiative is a collaborative effort between the British Horse Society, Intervacc, Keeping Britain’s Horses Healthy, Redwings Horse Sanctuary, Scotland’s Rural College’s Premium Assured Strangles Scheme (PASS), Surveillance of Equine Strangles (SES), The (Dick) Royal School of Veterinary Studies and World Horse Welfare
