Happy Wednesday everybody and welcome back to another Bayside Bubble. Today we are joined by Annie Vickers, founder of Women on Walks, WOW for short.
We hear about how Annie grew tired of walking repeated laps of Dendy Park and instead, began to organise walks further afield for a small group of family and friends. The immense interest in this grew and led to the start of WOW in early 2019.
Annie tells us about her three prerequisites for scouting new walking trails: a 9-12km distance, toilet access, and (most importantly) a cafe to catch up with coffee afterwards.
We learn about the vast time effort Annie puts into organising walking trails, mentoring members, keeping the Facebook page active, engaging participants throughout lockdown with virtual walks around the world.
The bonds that are formed, friendships made, and stories of overcoming trepidation are amongst Annie's favourite memories, and we revel in hearing about the incredible mentorship program that she runs in cooperation with the organised walks.
If you would like to join the amazing group of women on their next walk find information about upcoming events on their Facebook page here.
While you’re there come say hi and follow us on Facebook or our Instagram for more info about Annie, WOW, and our upcoming episodes.
As always thank you to our sponsons, Buxton Real Estate and Chisholm Constructions, who help us continue to make the content we love.
