Welcome to the next stimulating and thought-provoking episode of "The Critical Social Worker: A Revolutionary Storytelling Podcast." Hosted by Professor Christian Ace Stettler, the podcast aims to challenge, educate, and inspire by unraveling unique narratives rooted in social work values. In the upcoming Episode 13, titled "Children at Heart: Advocacy and Empowerment in Social Work," we welcome the esteemed Leigh Bolin, LCSW. Bolin's illustrious career spans numerous roles and responsibilities, from her current position as Executive Director of the Resource Center for Parents & Children in Fairbanks to her prior work as the Forensics Services Department Manager for Bristol Bay Health Corporation in Dillingham. Passionate and ardent about child advocacy, Bolin continues to serve her community in more ways than one. She is the President of the board for the Alaska Children's Alliance, the Treasurer for the Alaska Impact Alliance, and has served as a field instructor for the University of Alaska Fairbanks over the past four years. Bolin's hard work and dedication to the cause have recently been recognized with the prestigious NANFED award for the Heart of Social Work. In this episode, Leigh and Christian will engage in a critical dialogue about the intricacies of child advocacy, the experiences and challenges of being a field instructor for practicum students, and share poignant 'war stories' from the trenches of social work. This promises to be a transformative journey filled with insights, anecdotes, and reflections that will appeal to both new and seasoned social workers, and anyone who has an interest in social change. As always, the episode will uphold the principles of fostering critical dialogue, using storytelling as an educational tool, promoting empathy and understanding, and building a connected community. We encourage all our listeners to participate actively in the live Q&A session following the main discussion. You can join us by asking questions via chat or calling in as you would on a traditional radio show.
