This month Debbie sits down with Master Gardener, Gretchen Anderson, to discuss harvesting and preservation. Gretchen is a Master Food Safety Advisor which means she is up-to-date on what the safest way to preserve what you grown. Back in the day, there were a lot of food born illnesses but with certification or education, this can be avoided. If you are using an "old" family recipe, this is a great show to learn about how acidity levels have changed over the years and how to adjust for modern preservation. Debbie and Gretchen talk about the abundance of flies, the heat, freezing, dehydration (did you know that your library might have one to loan you?), canning, and how satisfying the jar sealing moment is.
