The nation was shocked on Saturday as former President Trump was the target of an attempted assassination at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The shooting left President Trump with a wounded ear, one rally attendee dead, and two others injured. The gunman was killed in return fire by the Secret Service. In the aftermath, the Republican Party now looks toward the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley joins the Rundown to share his reaction to the assassination attempt, what can be expected of the convention now that security has been increased, and what President Trump’s message will be to the nation on the event’s stage.

The tone of the campaign has now shifted following the assassination attempt of former President Trump. In the wake of what the FBI is calling a terrorist attack, leaders in both parties are urging for a cooling of harsh rhetoric and making calls for national unity. President Trump provided a stunning image, as he pumped his fist after being wounded by the would-be assassin. FOX News Sunday Anchor and host of the Livin’ The Bream podcast Shannon Bream joins the Rundown to share what her initial reaction was while covering the President’s Pennsylvania rally, where the nation goes in the months leading up to the election, and America’s search for a unifying message in turbulent times.

Plus, commentary from FOX News Contributor and host of the Jason In The House podcast, Jason Chaffetz.
