2024.03.16 - 1 Year Later, OH-PA Toxic Destruction
Manage episode 411008153 series 2343883
Guest: PA State Senator #DougMastriano, Chairman of the PA Emergency Preparedness Committee
The discussion covers topics including the Southern Border, Biden's economic policies and the lack of federal and state support and response from Ohio Governor DeWine and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro following the #NorfolkSouthern #TrainDerailment on February 3, 2023 in #EastPalestine, OH and the subsequent incineration of highly toxic chemicals on February 6, 2023. To date, neither state has declared a state of emergency to help the people in the affected region survive the humanitarian and environmental disaster, and neither has demanded that #Biden et al declare a federal emergency to help the victims of this massive disaster.
Victims are currently living in conditions that continue to have high levels of toxins in the water and environment causing lead in their teeth and bones, vomiting of blood clots, cancer, infertility and death. The death rate has more than doubled for a 6 month period post the train derailment disaster as compared to a 6 month period during covid.
More than one year later, Senator Mastriano held an Emergency Preparedness Committee hearing in Darlington, PA at the border of Ohio on 3/27/2024 to hear from the victims about the effects of the #NorfolkSouthern #TrainDerailment in #EastPalestine, OH. The purpose was to find out:
- what occurred over the past year to help the victims
- how the victims are doing
- what the #EPA, the federal government & Norfolk Southern have or have NOT done
Jen attended the hearing and interviewed victims and their families as they came together as one community from Ohio and Pennsylvania to share their horror stories one year later. Hear the shocking stories and horrific realities of the victims living in the region of the toxic burn. One significant fact came out during the hearing that the NTSB had determined the toxic containers were stable and did NOT have to be incinerated, resulting in massive catastrophe, wide-spread toxicity and death.
