Episode 41: The Pro-Palestinian Harvard Letter and Free Speech Issues

The Harvard Letter was published by over 30 student groups at Harvard after the initial Hamas attack in Israel. This letter blamed Israel for the attack, claiming it was "entirely" Israel's fault that Israel was attacked. In response to the Harvard Letter, multiple elite donors, board members, and supports of Harvard have withdrawn fellowships, money, and support to the private elite Ivy League school, including former Maryland Governor #larryhogan, and billionaire #lesliewexner. A conservative group paid for a doxxing truck that drove around Harvard's square with an electronic billboard advertising the names and photographs of the students that signed the letter. Employers have demanded to know the identities of these students, too, and have withdrawn job offers to those involved and are blacklisting others that had not yet been employed by these companies.

On this week's episode, our legal team discusses if and how the First Amendment's freedom and protections of speech impact all of these actions and parties.

We also address similar First Amendment issues with respect to what #donaldtrump said and did on January 6th and with statements he is making recently about judges, witnesses, and clerks in his multiple pending cases.

As an extra treat, our team also discusses #donaldtrump 's legal briefs regarding presidential immunity in terms of prior Supreme Court decisions centered around former President Nixon and the Watergate scandal.
