After putting up over ninety points in their first two games of the season, The New Orleans Saints have lost three straight games after their loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football, a game in which they saw quarterback Derek Carr leave the game with an oblique injury. It almost seems as they have lost their offensive identity, and ability to run the ball. Now they face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a team that the Atlanta Falcons just handled to kick off week five on Thursday Night Football. Has the race to win the NFC South already been trimmed to two teams after only five weeks of football in the 2024 NFL football season? It sure seems so, especially with the Falcons already having won divisional games versus the Bucs AND Saints, with the team traveling to face the 1-4 Carolina Panthers in week six. The Bucs have looked great through five weeks, and if they can find a way to beat the Saints in week six, they, along with the Falcons, will be sitting atop the NFC South with a pretty distinct advantage. Randy McMichael and Abe Gordon explore the NFC South more, and how it may have already become a “2 horse race”.
