Joanna Williams recently penned the report 'Teachers or Parents: Who is Responsible for Raising the Next Generation?" There has been a steady undermining of boundaries between home and school going back decades (or even centuries if you look to history of education and changing perceptions of parents & the family). As teachers are told they must include toothbrushing in lessons, some parents are resorting to getting tutors for their children to meet educational deficit. At the same token there is an inversion of responsibility as schools increasingly lean on the mantra 'child led'. It's the upside down world, where nothing is stable for our children to rest on, is it any wonder education is a mess? In this podcast we consider the history of this trajectory related to the space between school and home. We also talk about how we might claw back some sense for our children and what parents can do. Jo brings a huge amount of knowledge and heart to this issue.
