We hope this podcast finds you well.
In this episode, we were joined by Dayna Morris, who shared her experience with parenting her children where one is autistic. She discussed the importance of understanding each autistic person is unique and different from the next. She mentioned programs in supporting workplace neurodiversity, tailored programs to support families, and shared helpful resources such as the "AS Detect" app, "Tilting the Seesaw," and "Way to Play" programs provided by Autism NZ.
Dayna also spoke about challenges she has faced, she didn't know where to turn initially but found support in Autism New Zealand. She also shared information on tracking devices for children who have sensory needs and may run away, such as the app "Wander search." She acknowledged that the child's safety and comfort come first and discussed different options for tracking devices and fences.
We appreciate Dayna's openness and willingness to share her story with us. If you have any questions or would like to connect with Dayna regarding resources or support in parenting an autistic child, please feel free to reach out to Autism NZ. Thank you for tuning in.
