This episode will continue our look at the 2023 Academy Awards, taking a deep dive into the winners, and How the BAFTA predictions got it wrong this year? Which brings up the question, Does the Academy pick random obscure titles that they like despite what is popular with other awards? Does the Academy play favourites?
Why are the Popular Films snubbed year after year? Why do the weirdest films no-one has heard of seem to do well over the last decade or so? How do you compare films that are vastly different to one another? Does there need to be more categories and winners?
We will also look back over the decades past Best Picture Winners to see how the best picture winners have changed dramatically and the types of films that used to win and how The Academy owes Tom Cruise an Oscar or ten. Does the Acdemdy play favourites? Do they pander to certain artists and/or films? Do they owe certain Actors and Directors an Oscar for being snubbed in previous years? Is this the case for Michelle Yeoh and Brendan Fraser, and many more?
