Sri Lanka Has Taken A Significant Step Towards Banning The Burka And Other Face Coverings In Public, On Grounds Of National Security. In Addition, Switzerland Has Narrowly Voted In Favour Of Banning Face Coverings In Public, Including The Burka Or Niqab Worn By Muslim Women. Switzerland’s Referendum Did Not Mention Islam Directly And Was Also Aimed At Stopping Violent Street Protesters From Wearing Masks. However, The Vote Was Widely Referred To As The #BurkaBan.
