Manage episode 375604934 series 3205276
In this episode, we have the privilege of welcoming Dr. Alice Evans, in her first exclusive interview in Brazil, for an in-depth discussion on gender dynamics around the world.
We delve into crucial topics such as the importance of keeping ego out of scientific research and explore the nuances between patriarchy and matriarchy, as well as the underlying forces that shape these systems. By examining patrilineal and matrilineal societies, we gain deeper insights into how men and women perceive and interact with each other, influenced by a myriad of factors.
Dr. Alice shares valuable insights from her ethnographic journeys across six continents, where she immersed herself in diverse communities to decipher the roots of cultural variations concerning gender. She also highlights cultures that have made strides toward gender equality and suggests pathways others can adopt to achieve similar outcomes.

She is currently writing a book titled The Great Gender Divergence: Why All Societies Have Become More Gender Equal, and Why Some Are More Equal Than Others.
