Good morning, Atlanta! This is your weather update for the weekend, and buckle up because we've got a moisture-packed forecast coming your way.
First things first - we're looking at a foggy and potentially stormy overnight period. Expect temperatures dipping down to around 47 degrees Fahrenheit with a light east wind. Grab your raincoat, because there's a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms trying to crash our Friday night party.
Saturday is going to be a wet one, folks! We're talking about a rollercoaster of precipitation from morning to evening. Temperatures will climb to near 62 degrees Fahrenheit, with east winds gusting up to 15 miles per hour. Expect on and off showers, with the best chances of thunderstorms before 2 PM and after 3 PM. Dense fog might also make a dramatic appearance, so drive carefully!
Saturday night kicks into high gear with an 80 percent chance of rain. Winds will pick up from the south, potentially gusting up to 25 miles per hour. We could see between half to three-quarters of an inch of rainfall.
Sunday continues the wet theme with an 80 percent chance of showers and potential thunderstorms, especially in the morning. Temperatures will warm up to around 66 degrees Fahrenheit.
The good news? Monday looks mostly sunny with temperatures near 63 degrees Fahrenheit, giving us a brief reprieve from the moisture.
As we roll into the New Year, expect some cooler temperatures. New Year's Day will be mostly sunny but chilly, with highs around 52 degrees Fahrenheit.
