(Hebrew) Episodes we've mentioned:
Episode 33 about the Qajar dynasty (crossover with Big History in the Little)
Episodes about Shiite Islam with Dr. Ori Goldberg (last link in English, but wasn't mentioned)
Yossi Alpher about the 1979 Revolution
TECHNICALITIES:
If you enjoyed this episode and wish to express your gratitude, you’re very welcome to buy us a coffee or two (or more, there’s no limit!). My coffee is at www.ko-fi.com/thamar, and Ilan's is at www.ko-fi.com/IlanAbecassis. All the links are also in the post body.
The following is more relevant for Hebrew speakers, but if you reached all the way up to here, you can understand English very well, so let’s be polite and do the technicalities part also in English:
If you want to express your appreciation, you can become our patrons, mine at www.patreon.com/thamar, and Ilan's is at www.patreon.com/IlanAbc. During Corona times, my patrons in raw-material tiers receive also a video of the raw recording, and all patrons are invited to recordings.
You can also invite us to lectures – now that the whole world is at home, it doesn't really matter that we're not in the same continent. I give quite excellent Zoom lectures, and have quite a few witnesses from my online courses – Capital-tour in Iran (capitals from more than 2600 years), introduction to linguistics and Pre-Islamic Iran. The course are in Hebrew, and late joiners get links to the private YouTube recordings of the previous lectures.
You're also encouraged to buy our books – the Book of Esther Unmasekd in English is also available on Amazon as black-and-white POD and ebook. For color printing and PDF files, and my other books in Hebrew – you are welcome to our site – www.zeresh.co.il. Ilan's book and lecture invitations are on the Chronicles site – ilanabc.com.
I wish to thank all my patrons and the generous Non-Hebrew-Speaker sponsor of episodes 50-61, who wished to remain anonymous. Thank you book buyers, lecture inviters, and those of you who got me coffee – it was yummy, energizing and heartwarming.
Kiosk Song
It has to be "Nameh be Sardar", a letter to the commander, which Arash Sobhani wrote to his commander in the IRGC, who was an Iran-Iraq war veteran (in the episode – with an introduction from a live concert).
NEXT TIMES ON ENRICHED IRANIUM
Next week is Hol Hamoed, we won't have a public episode, but our patrons will receive the audio from the first lectures of my two Iranian online courses – Capital Tours in Iran – Landing in Tehran, and Pre-Islamic Iran – "Who are you, the Iranians?".
After Pesach, on episode 62 I talk with the celebrated author Ruby Namdar, author of "the house that was destroyed" – in Hebrew but maybe by that time we'll also record in English and release simultaniously. We don't talk about his books but about an even bigger passion of his – Persian poetry.
The week after depends on feedback from my patrons, if they want the audio from the rest of the online lectures or is it just not worth it without video, or if it's not for everyone to enjoy. If I get positive feedback, we will do Iranium every other week, and patrons episode with the online-courses audio on the other weeks.
I hope episode 63 will be with David Nissan about his childhood in Iran and his bridge-building activities bringing Iran to Israelis, and I've also promised a talk with Prof. Amos Frumkin about Iranian caves and soil, Sam Thrope and Nico Agostini about their edition of the Bundahishn, and many more excellent speakers on excellent topics. If you've listened all the way up to here, I would appreciate your feedback on the English episodes – should I do more of them or concentrate on my Hebrew listenage?
Zoom and Corona give me an excellent opportunity to record, and I hope to keep the podcast running when we're free again. That depends, of course, on sponsorship or patronage, so spread the word!
Thank you all for listening, and hear ya next week!
