When a young Eva Kollisch arrives as a refugee in New York in 1940, she finds a community among socialists who share her values and idealism. She soon discovers ‘the cause’ isn’t as idyllic as it seems. Little does she know this is the beginning of a lifelong commitment to activism and her determination to create radical change in ways that include belonging, love and one's full self. In addition to Eva Kollisch’s memoirs Girl in Movement (2000) and The Ground Under My Feet (2014), LBI’s collections include an oral history interview with Eva conducted in 2014 and the papers of Eva’s mother, poet Margarete Kolllisch, which document Eva’s childhood experience on the Kindertransport. ×This episode was originally recorded for The Radically Christian Bible Study Podcast hosted by Wes McAdams. Kyle and Leah open up about the emotional journey of foster care and adoption. They discuss having to surrender their own desires and trust God’s plan for each child. Adoption gave them a deeper understanding of God’s unconditional love for all people. It also showed the redemptive power of God turning broken situations into beautiful stories. This is a moving episode sharing an intimate adoption journey and the lessons it teaches about God’s redeeming love.…
Parenting can be deeply rewarding, but also intensely draining. In our efforts to be present and patient with our children, it's easy for our own spiritual reservoirs to run dry, and if that happens, we risk spiritual burnout - that sense of depletion is where we feel disconnected from our deeper purpose. To avoid this, we parents must prioritize our spiritual self-care, whether through meditation, journaling, time in nature, or any practice that reconnects us with God. Doing so grants us the strength, wisdom, and calm needed to maintain harmony in our homes and model spiritual well-being for our children. Micah Williams, the Preaching Minister at 7th and Mueller Church of Christ in Paragould, AR talks with us about what spiritual burnout may look like, how we can better understand it, and things we can do to battle it.…

We all share a universal desire—to help our children recognize their place in the divine narrative. However, within Christian communities, it's not always apparent that there are barriers that may unknowingly obstruct a child's spiritual development.
