Episode 107: Creating a Business Idea that You Can Get Funded to Build
Manage episode 307375702 series 2818098
It is important to create a business based on your own values, but you also must consider that it is not only valuable and meaningful to your initial funders, but to the customers that will keep it going for years to come. That’s why episode 107 of the Melanin & Medicine Podcast is about creating a business idea that you can get funded to build!
The 2021 Funding Your Healthcare Vision Summit is a one-day event that will highlight and create perspective for Black women in healthcare to get funding to create profitable, purpose-led & uniquely funded businesses or practices that are uniquely designed to provide equity for underserved Black and Brown populations.
Instead of sitting on a life-changing idea — that will contribute to your community — wondering if it is fundable and doable, you leave with the confidence and the proven concept needed to apply for and get hundreds of thousands in funding that will allow you to build and grow your own social impact business, practice or consultancy.
In this episode of the Melanin & Medicine Podcast, I’m sharing the importance of putting together a business idea that is meaningful to both initial investors and future customers and leveraging that value to get funded.
What You’ll Learn From This Episode:
- Covering the first two pillars in the acronym I ask when exploring business ideas: Does it bring new L.I.F.E.?
- Knowing your own 5 core values is a starting point to knowing what values might be important to others.
- Using the acronym K.A.P. when asking yourself if your idea is going to create change or make an impact in some way.
- Ensuring that your idea has staying power in order to leave a legacy far beyond money.
Be sure to tune in to all the episodes to receive tons of practical tips on empowering Black women in medicine and academia to find their purpose and achieve their vision.
