Do you realize that you can't really get to know someone unless you get up close and personal with them?
You can know about a person, you can look on from a distance and make a guess about who they are, what they enjoy, or how they live, but the only way to really know a person, you've got to get up close; you've got to be around them, spend time with them, hear them talk, watch them live day to day; to really know someone requires intimacy, which is a deep personal connection with someone.
