When a young Eva Kollisch arrives as a refugee in New York in 1940, she finds a community among socialists who share her values and idealism. She soon discovers ‘the cause’ isn’t as idyllic as it seems. Little does she know this is the beginning of a lifelong commitment to activism and her determination to create radical change in ways that include belonging, love and one's full self. In addition to Eva Kollisch’s memoirs Girl in Movement (2000) and The Ground Under My Feet (2014), LBI’s collections include an oral history interview with Eva conducted in 2014 and the papers of Eva’s mother, poet Margarete Kolllisch, which document Eva’s childhood experience on the Kindertransport. Learn more at www.lbi.org/kollisch . Exile is a production of the Leo Baeck Institute , New York | Berlin and Antica Productions . It’s narrated by Mandy Patinkin. Executive Producers include Katrina Onstad, Stuart Coxe, and Bernie Blum. Senior Producer is Debbie Pacheco. Associate Producers are Hailey Choi and Emily Morantz. Research and translation by Isabella Kempf. Sound design and audio mix by Philip Wilson, with help from Cameron McIver. Theme music by Oliver Wickham. Voice acting by Natalia Bushnik. ×In this Sunday’s homily, Fr. Hollowell reflects on Jesus’ call to forgive and what true Christian forgiveness looks like. Drawing from the wisdom of Dietrich von Hildebrand, he explores the two extremes that can hinder real forgiveness—harboring hatred or simply burying the hurt without addressing it. True reconciliation, especially within our closest relationships, requires not only an inward act of forgiveness but also honest conversation and repentance. Join us as we reflect on Jesus’ words: “Forgive, and you will be forgiven” and pray for healing in our relationships.…
Fr. Meyer challenges us to confront a fundamental question: “Who do you say that I am?” In this powerful homily from the E6 Catholic Men’s Conference, he shares his personal reflections on how many of us may have misunderstood Jesus, particularly in the context of our Catholic faith. He explores the differences between Catholic and Protestant views of Jesus and encourages men to reexamine their faith practices, from fasting to prayer, and align their lives more closely with how Jesus lived. This homily is a call to rediscover the fullness of our faith and to live as true disciples of Christ. Watch now for an inspiring reflection on who Jesus is and how we are called to respond. 🌟 Become a Parish Purpose Partner: Support our online ministry and help us continue sharing the message of Christ with the world. 1 Have We Got It All Wrong? A Bold Wake-Up Call for Catholics | Sunday Homily 2.16.25 | Fr. Jonathan Meyer 23:56
What if we, as Catholics, have been looking at our faith from the wrong perspective? What if our desire to fit into modern culture has led us away from truly living like Jesus? In today’s Gospel (Luke 6:22), Jesus tells us: “Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude and insult you, and denounce your name as evil on account of the Son of Man.” Yet, as American Catholics, do we avoid persecution by blending in? Have we forgotten who Jesus truly is? 🔥 In this homily, Fr. Myer makes a bold claim: Our Christian beliefs align with our Protestant brothers and sisters, but our practices—fasting, prayer, holy days, even dress codes—look more like those in Judaism and Islam. And you know what? That’s because they look like Jesus Himself. He will back up these claims with Scripture and history—and you won’t believe the revelations that unfold. 📢 Don’t miss this one! Share your thoughts in the comments, and if this message challenges you, share it with someone who needs to hear it. 🔔 Subscribe for more powerful reflections on faith and truth!…
