S&P Futures are displaying significant weakness this morning. This morning there are a couple of negative catalysts causing markets to fall. The Trump backed budget bill failed to pass and the government faces a shutdown this weekend. Markets are also cautious ahead of this morning's inflation report which is expected to edge higher. Additional President -Elect Trump has issued tariff threats to the EU if they don't purchase more oil and gas from the U.S. Holiday periods can often result in larger than normal market swings. Shares of FDX are higher after earnings and a possible spinoff. NKE is lower after an EPS beat on weak forward guidance. The FDA removed LLY weight loss drug from its drug shortage list. In Europe stocks trading lower with autos, banks and mining stocks falling. Oil prices are falling in the pre-market with forward demand in question.

President Trump is holding a Crypto Summit at the White House today, last night he signed off on the creation of a strategic bitcoin reserve. Fed Chair Jerome Powell is scheduled to speak today. Tariff news continues to dominate the sentiment, markets react negatively to uncertainty and tariff process has been highly chaotic. S&P Futures are moving higher this morning as Commerce Sec indicated that the Trump Administration may announce a tariff reduction on Canada and Mexico today. European markets are displaying a strong upside move on new spending plans out of Germany. China talked stimulus action in the Two Sessions meeting. Trumps address to a joint session of Congress did not provide any new details of his economic plan and did not indicate a possible tariff reduction announcement on Canada and Mexico. CRWD earnings announcement disappointed the markets and shares are lower. After the bell today, MRVL, VEEV, ZS & MDB are scheduled to release. Jazz Pharmaceuticals to acquire Chimerix for $8.55 per share. evening. ECB rate announcement is scheduled for tomorrow. China and Canada have already responded by slapping tariffs on U.S. goods, and Mexico is expected to do the same. Shares of WBA are higher this morning on reports of a pending buyout deal. S&P Futures are once again displaying strong gains in the pre-market. Nvidia delivered a strong earnings report and is moving higher, report did indicate some weakness in margins. President Trump issued a warning on EU tariffs, specifically on autos. There are media reports suggesting that the EU and India are working towards concession to avoid the tariff action.
