What are some of the challenges that healthcare organizations face when starting out on their journey to innovate on the cloud? [01:56] The only viable way to consume, store, and process large quantities of data is with Cloud. [02:06] The pandemic has driven the acceleration of cloud migrations, with work from home and the extra strain on the healthcare industry, in particular. [02:17] Working in the cloud is very different than working in the data center. [02:46] As you know, healthcare is one of the most regulated industries in the United States, with regards to security and compliance around data privacy. It’s also the most at-risk and vulnerable to data breaches and ransomware attacks. I saw a statistic where health care data sells on the black market for $250 a record, as opposed to a little over $5 for something as relatively innocuous as credit card data! How do healthcare organizations deal with this kind of security risk when going to the cloud? [04:35] About 60% of small healthcare organizations will experience successful cyberattacks in any given year, of which 90% of them will be put out of business within the year.
