"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose." This quote is attributed to Jim Elliot, but could just have easily been uttered by the Apostle Paul. When we have given our lives to Jesus we have eternal live which we cannot lose, we eagerly look forward to the crown of righteousness that is ours in Christ Jesus. This truth should propel us to radical sacrifice for love of Jesus, not to earn eternal life, but because it is already ours. When we truly love Jesus, we will surrender our lives as a drink offering, we will pursue the course he has for our lives, we will fight the good fight, and we wukk hold firm to our faith in all circumstances because our faith is at the center of our identity.
