You’ve heard of 75 Hard, right? A 75 day commitment to do a series of hard things daily. Traditionally, that list of hard things includes 2 workouts daily (one outside), eating a healthy meal plan, drinking a gallon of water, reading 10 pages, and taking a daily progress photo. Every day for 75 days. No cheats. No misses. It’s hard. A lot of people fail. That’s why it’s called 75 hard.

God sometimes calls us to do hard things in certain seasons of our lives. But regardless of your current season of life, I can absolutely guarantee you God is calling you to a very specific commitment. Are you ready for it, because once you hear this you can’t unhear it. And once you hear it, you will know this is for you.

GOD IS CALLING YOU TO BE FAITHFUL.

As of this Thursday, October 17th, there are 75 days left in 2024. God is inviting you into a partnership with him for 75 Faithful. He isn’t asking you to do anything ridiculously hard. He’s not asking you to do anything overwhelmingly big. He’s simply asking you to be faithful with something little with him.

It’s so easy to dismiss the little things as unimportant, but actually my sister, with God, the most important things are often the things no one else even sees.

Jesus said in Mark 4: 30-32, “How can I describe the Kingdom of God? What story should I use to illustrate it?”

First, understand what the Kingdom of God is. Kingdom work is salvation work. It is God’s divine work within you to grow you into the girl God created you to be and align you with his great plans for your life. So Jesus is saying, “Let me explain to you the work only God is going to do in your life.”

And this is the example he uses to describe that work in your life: “It is like a mustard seed planted in the ground. It is the smallest of all seeds, but it becomes the largest of all garden plants, it grows long branches, and birds can make nests in its shade.”

The mustard seed was the absolute tiniest seed the people of this day had ever seen. Now imagine that seed thrown on the ground … you would never even notice it’s there. And buried in the ground … impossible to find. Mustard seeds are so tiny, it takes about 20,000 seeds to weigh a single ounce. And yet, Jesus points out that this tiny, seemingly insignificant ,even unnoticeable thing, grows. It grows to become the largest plant in the garden.

And this is how God works in the little things in your life. The little things you do that no one will ever notice or praise. The little things that are so easy to do, and also so easy not to do. These little things represent the Kingdom of God in your life. Again, what is that? That’s the work only God can do in your life.

Jesus also said in Mark 4: 26-29, “The Kingdom of God is like a farmer who scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, while he’s asleep or awake, the seed sprouts and grows, but he does not understand how it happens. The earth produces the crops on its own. First a leaf blade pushes through, then the heads of wheat are formed, and finally the grain ripens. And as soon as the grain is ready, the farmer comes and harvests it with a sickle, for the harvest time has come.”

So, this work God does in your life is again like that tiny seed, and when planted, it grows in the unseen. Night and day, it grows even though we don’t understand how. It just happens.

I know you want a big harvest in your life. I know you have a hurt you’re trying to heal from, a hardship you’re trying to make it through, a change you’re desperately trying to make. We all do. And would you believe your loving God wants that harvest for you too, Sis. He wants it even more than you do, that’s why he has given you these seeds. Yes, these little things you can do. Not hard things, not big things, little things.

Now, will you just be faithful with these little things?

What could happen if you were faithful? They could grow bigger than you could possibly imagine. They could grow in the unseen and one day, it just clicks. One day you realize you hurt less and you feel so much more joy. One day you look around and realize you made it through that hardship and the future looks so sweet. One day you don’t struggle like you used to struggle and you look in the mirror to see you’ve changed.

There’s that leaf pushing through the soil. Something truly miraculous has been happening with these little things you’ve been doing in the unseen! And these little things will grow to become the biggest plant in the garden!

75 Faithful.

75 days of being completely faithful in the little things of God that grow to become massive work in your life.

Now, let’s be specific. If you’re looking for a little thing to be faithful with in this partnership with God for the final 75 days of 2024, I suggest the absolute best seed I know … Read your Bible.

I used to feel like reading my Bible was nothing more than a miserable little box to be checked. I got absolutely nothing out of it so it seemed like a waste of time. I couldn’t understand why God would really want me to read this old book that sometimes seemed really confusing and totally not applicable for my life.

Then, I started being faithful in reading. Highlighters in hand, ready to really hear from God, I dug deep. I started in the book of Romans, then the book of John. Every morning, I just made time to study. Not to speed read and not to check the box. Some days I would only make it 3 verses because all my time was taken looking at different translations and reading commentary to understand the stories better. Some days the entire page of my Bible would be highlighted, underlined and written all over. And some days I would learn about genealogy that seemed unimportant or old kings that were vicious.

But every day that I was faithful to read God’s word, something unseen was happening. Something was growing within me. Something so little was becoming so much bigger.

AND THIS IS WHY JESUS DESCRIBED THE WORK GOD DOES IN YOUR LIFE LIKE A MUSTARD SEED. It’s so tiny you couldn’t even see it when dropped on the ground … but it grows! It grows when no one knows it’s growing. It grows when there’s absolutely no visual proof of it growing. It grows in the depths of darkness no one can see. And then one day, it sprouts up. And it keeps growing and growing and growing to become the largest plant in the garden.

Little things grow to become big things. God is asking you if you will be faithful with a little thing for the final 75 days of this year.

I’ve been witnessing this miraculous phenomenon in the life of my oldest daughter. She and her husband are both in the military, and she was unexpectedly sent overseas for several months. As a young wife and mother, this is one of the hardest things she’s ever faced. I have been blessed with the opportunity to love on her little boy while she is out of the country. In fact, my grandson is now 2 and we took him on his first camping trip last night. He’s waking up in a tent for the first time ever right now and let me tell you, it’s exciting!

But my daughter has been struggling. Struggling with the unknown of how long she will be gone and how this will all work out. She’s all alone in a foreign country with no return date. And this struggle has brought her to her Bible. Her Bible I bought her that had likely never been opened before.

She said, “Mom, where do I start? Nothing makes sense to me.” I said, “Babe, start in Romans, start in John, start in James … just start. Open and read. Don’t read to check a box. Read to hear from God. His word is unlike any other written words in the world … these words are alive. They are a seed and they will grow within you.”

For one month she’s been reading faithfully. Yesterday she said to me, “Mom, it’s crazy. I actually want to read my Bible now. I’m understanding things. It’s making sense.” She now has her young little husband reading his Bible every day. She even told her younger sister (my precious Prodigal I tell you about often) the only thing helping her through this hard time is to read her Bible and pray. That same day, my youngest daughter, whom I hadn’t heard from in months, reached out to me and asked me to pray with her over text.

Y’all, this word of God is alive. It is unlike anything else you can possibly read. It is a tiny seed that grows to become the largest thing in your life.

But, it’s not about reading it once. It’s not about checking a box. It’s about being faithful with little.

I have found if I’m faithful with this little practice of reading God’s word daily, he trusts me with so much more. I hear from him more. I receive his divine promptings of guidance more. I see more of his blessings.

Jesus said in Luke 16:10, “If you are faithful with little, you can also be trusted with much.”

God has so much he wants to give you, my sweet sister. He’s asking you if you will first be faithful with this little thing. This little seed that will grow to be the biggest thing in your life.

Faithful 75. 75 days of faithfully reading the living word of God. 75 days of planting tiny seeds that will grow to become the biggest and best harvest of your life.

Try it and see … It will not fail.
