In this episode, Bethany and Kristen discussed their experiences with tongue-ties in their own children and in their roles as a breastfeeding specialist and NICU nurse practitioner. They talked about the importance of early diagnosis, the challenges of finding providers for surgery, and the need for moms to understand all the options and risks involved. Kristen discussed the process of referring mothers for tongue tie diagnosis and revision surgery. Kristen explained that they provide a list of pediatric dentists and ENTs to parents, who can choose based on their preferences and insurance. The surgery is quick and usually involves both tongue and lip tie revisions, with minimal pain and the option of using numbing agents.
