Jesus made it abundantly clear in the whole Sermon of the Mount that the citizens of His kingdom should be living for God. And yet, he also made it clear that they are able to live for God only through the care of God (Matthew 6:25-33). The last three petitions of the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:11-13), then, indicate that those who live for God’s name, kingdom, and will (Matthew 6:9-10) will live in full dependence on God’s daily provision, pardon and protection.
