Today we have a great show! The topic for our conversation will be real estate property taxes. This line item remains to be one of the largest annual expenses associated with the ownership of commercial property. Our discussion will include the history behind this tax, where the funds go, how to assess if you’ve been charged the correct amount and strategies for new and existing shopping center owners on how to keep this cost down. We’re going to discuss how technology has changed the appraisal process and tips for underwriting new acquisitions.
Our guest today is Rob Turner with Assessment Services. Rob currently serves as managing member of the firm, consulting private owners, developers and investors on property taxes within their real estate portfolio. Rob formerly served as the Property Appraiser of Hillsborough County from 1997 to 2013 and has a wealth of knowledge and experience pertaining to this topic.
