Welcome to Episode 2 of Finding Your Range. In this episode I am delighted to welcome our guest, Gary Ward. There is nothing about the foot that this man does not know and given hypermobility can cause many foot related problems and pain in other parts of the body, I was super keen to speak with him.

Gary Ward is an author, educator and speaker on the subject of human movement and anatomy. In the UK, he has appeared on the TV show Doctor in the House.

His passion for the foot hugely influenced his interpretation of human movement. He teaches an evolution of anatomy and physiology – an evolution that starts with the foot and results in whole body integrated movement.

He is the inventor of the Flow Motion Model: a simple description of what the body does and when it does it… A powerful tool for both assessment and intervention of the human body in the quest for health through movement.

Gary is the author of ‘What The Foot’ and teaches his work all over the world.

I met Gary back in 2014 when I attended one of his 6-day immersion courses for therapists and medical professionals called Anatomy in Motion. His teachings on foot mechanics and the implications of how the foot really works were a game changer for me – the course quite simply changed how I look at the body. My background at the time was Pilates, and the foot was not part of the training material. It was pretty much a neglected body part and Gary’s work was the missing jigsaw piece. Gary’s work is a constant resource for me with my hypermobile clients.
