In the fourth episode of Genius Loves Company, Laura Esposito, Head of Rockefeller’s Enterprise Client Coverage Group, sits down with Shelly Lazarus, Chairman Emeritus of Ogilvy, the global advertising, marketing and public relations agency, and a member of the Board at Rockefeller Capital Management.

Known to many as one of the most powerful executives in the advertising industry and one of the most influential women in business, Shelly began her career at Ogilvy & Mather in 1971 and shot inexorably up through the ranks to become CEO in 1996 and then chairman for more than a decade. She became Chairman Emeritus in 2012. Throughout her tenure, she attracted some of the world’s largest and most respected brands including American Express, BP, Coca-Cola, IBM and Unilever among many others. Shelly also serves on the boards of several corporate, philanthropic and academic institutions, including: The Blackstone Group, Organon, New York Presbyterian Hospital, Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy, World Wildlife Fund, Partnership for New York City, Lincoln Center, and the Board of Overseers of Columbia Business School, where she received her MBA in 1970.

In an in-depth conversation, Shelly and Laura discuss the power of “ten-year ideas,” the drive to think big, inspiring creative and workplace bravery in those around you, and the value of growing with your clients over the long-term.
