PREVIEW: In Episode 62 of Historical Drama with The Boston Sisters, we're talking about the recent film adaptation of August Wilson’s Tony Award-winning play THE PIANO LESSON with Constanza Romero, August Wilson’s widow, an executive producer for the film, and executive director of the August Wilson Legacy LLC.
The recent film adaptation of THE PIANO LESSON is directed by Malcolm Washington and adapted for the screen by Virgil Williams and Malcolm Washington.
In the THE PIANO LESSON a family clash over an heirloom piano explodes. The battle is between brother, Boy Willie (John David Washington) and sister, Berniece (Danielle Deadwyler) - one hopes to sell it, the other refuses to give it up. The piano unleashes haunting truths about how the past is perceived and who defines a family legacy.
The film is adapted for screen by Virgil Williams and Malcolm Washington. The cast includes Samuel L. Jackson, Ray Fisher, Michael Potts, Erykah Badu, and Corey Hawkins.
THE PIANO LESSON is currently in select theaters and available for streaming on Netflix November 22, 2024.
