What is the purpose of the untainted Gospel that Ross and Brendon have spoken about the last two sermons? Where do we end up when we believe that we’re made right with God through the death and resurrection of Jesus? What happens when we abandon all effort at impressing God with religious effort and self-righteous moralism, and simply trust? There are two ways to entry into a human family. You are either born biologically into the family or by become a member of a family by means of adoption. The message of the Good News of Jesus dying and rising from the dead employs both of these terms to describe the highest purpose of the Gospel. Galatians 3:26-4:7 focuses on the fulfilment of the promise made to Abraham, which was made good in Jesus… our sonship in God’s family by adoption. This is the high point of the Galatian’s letter.
