When asked to define the greatest commandment of the Law, Jesus answered that inquiry by saying, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important command." But over the last several decades, it seems that one aspect has eluded the modern church. Indeed the church notes a the great need to love the Lord with the heart, which is the set of the will and the emotions. The modern American church also keys in on the love one must hold for God with one's soul, which is the conscious (being) of the individual. However the third aspect of the Great Commandment seems to have eluded the American church. As Christians, we are also commanded to love the Lord with all our mind. Extreme fideism (believing that the Christian life is only about faith without reason) has led the church down the path known as anti-intellectualism.
In this episode, I wrap up this series with presenting 8 ways that anti-intellectualism is harming your churches. We need to stop trying to storm the gates of hell with a water pistol, and come to the battle with a life we are willing to defend at all costs.
