你知道日本是最富有的民主國家中，仍然未通過同性婚姻法的嗎？Netflix在近期上架的男男實境秀《The Boyfriend 夏日咖啡男友》，期盼能為日本帶來什麼影響呢？
本集文稿：
Japan is the most popular country to visit among Taiwanese tourists. But do you know that Japan is the only country among the world’s wealthiest democracies that has not legalized same-sex marriages. And a Netflix reality show hopes to change this. Over ten episodes of “The Boyfriend” will be available in 190 countries beginning on July 9, a group of nine men gather in a luxury beach house outside Tokyo. The content is wholesome and entirely rated in G because the executive producer, said he wanted to “portray same-sex relationships as they really are.” Members from the LGBTQ community have high expectations for the show. Although polls show that more than 70 percent of the Japanese public supports legalizing same-sex unions, gay and transgender people are still subject to discrimination and hate speech. A college professor who has studied Japan’s LGBTQ culture for a long time wonders whether the show will bring about eventual political change though because she said cutesification doesn’t normally bring about radical political reform.
