A continuation of Thieves, Part 1.
The story:
Teenagers steal from and injure their grandfather.
The discussion:
Someone says, “We don't want to get to a point where the police are involved, but they might have to be.” What would happen if the police were called in? What could be the role of other authority figures, a counselor or an Elder be in this situation? Police, service providers, Elders and survivors answer those questions, and talk about some responses they’ve used to keep elders and children safe. From policing to pastry, to non-formal checks and sacred fires, or safe places and case conferencing, there are resources and people you can trust. “It takes generations to heal, but every single person does it bit by bit during their whole life.”
The Cast:
Gloria May Eshkibok, Daniel Gonzales, Bernadette Eshkawkogan, Fawn Aiabens Jacko, Marjorie Trudeau, Daniel Peltier, Jeff Eshkawkogan, Brenda Wabie, Dorothy Kennedy, Kitty Medweiash Bell, Danielle Roy McDonald, Paul Hartmann and Rose Peltier. Facilitated and directed by Joan Chandler.
