1.XI MEETS PUTIN IN MOSCOW

习近平对俄罗斯联邦进行国事访问

President Xi Jinping met his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, at the Kremlin in Moscow yesterday. Xi's state visit will end tomorrow. Zhang Yue has more.

国家主席习近平3月20日在莫斯科克里姆林宫会见了俄罗斯总统普京。本次国事访问将于3月22日结束。记者张乐带来更多报道。

A grand welcoming ceremony was held upon Xi's arrival. The two presidents had an in-depth and candid【坦诚的】 exchange on China-Russia relations and issues of mutual interest.

俄方在机场为习近平的访问举行隆重迎宾仪式。两国就中俄关系和共同关心的问题进行了深入坦诚的意见交流。

Xi said he and Putin have stayed in close touch over the past 10 years. Xi said China follows an independent foreign policy and is firmly committed to strengthening strategic coordination with Russia. He added the two countries should deepen practical【务实的】 cooperation in various fields and strengthen collaboration in places such as the United Nations to boost their respective national development and be a bulwark for world peace and stability.

习近平表示，中俄在过去10年中一直保持着密切联系。中国奉行独立的外交政策，坚定地致力于加强与俄罗斯的战略协调。他还表示，双方要进一步深化各领域务实合作，加强在联合国等多边平台的协调配合，助力各自国家发展振兴，做世界和平稳定的中流砥柱。

Putin said Russia stands ready to deepen bilateral cooperation, step up communication and collaboration in international affairs, and promote world multi-polarity and greater democracy in international relations.

普京表示，俄方愿同中方继续深化双边合作，加强在国际事务中的沟通协作，推动世界多极化和国际关系民主化进程。

The leaders had an in-depth exchange on the Ukraine issue. Xi stressed that a review of history shows that conflicts in the end have to be settled through dialogue and negotiation. China released a document on its position on the Ukraine crisis, advocating the political settlement of the crisis and rejecting the Cold War mentality【思维】 and unilateral sanctions, said Xi. He concluded that the Chinese government will continue to play a constructive role in promoting a political settlement of the Ukraine issue.

双方就乌克兰问题深入交换意见。习近平强调，回顾历史表明，冲突最终还是要通过对话和谈判来解决。不久前，中方专门发表了针对乌克兰危机的立场文件，呼吁政治解决乌克兰危机，反对冷战思维，反对单边制裁。中方愿继续为推动政治解决乌克兰问题发挥建设性作用。

Putin said Russia has carefully studied China's position paper and is open to talks for peace, adding his government welcomes China's willingness to play a constructive role in this regard.

普京表示俄方认真研究了中方关于政治解决乌克兰问题的立场文件，对和谈持开放态度，欢迎中方为此发挥建设性作用。

The two presidents said that they look forward to formal talks to draw up a blueprint for a comprehensive strategic partnership in the years to come.

两国领导人表示，他们期待着正式会谈，以便为将来的全面战略伙伴关系制定蓝图。

2.SHANGHAI'S FOREIGN TRADE HIT RECORD HIGH IN JAN.-FEB.

上海市今年前2个月外贸进出口值创历史同期新高，超6810亿元

Shanghai's foreign trade hit a record high of 681.56 billion yuan in the first two months of this year, marking a year-on-year increase of 0.7 percent.

今年前两个月，上海对外贸易达到6815.6亿元，创历史新高，同比增长0.7%。

According to data released by Shanghai Customs today, imports rose 4.7 percent year-on-year during the period, while the city's exports fell 4.9 percent year-on-year. Private enterprises in Shanghai posted strong performance, accounting for 30.6 percent of the city's total trade value. Regionally, in the first two months Shanghai's trade volume with RCEP nations was up 2.5 percent year on year, while two-way trade with the European Union saw a five percent increase.

根据上海海关在3月21日发布的数据，今年前两个月期间，上海市进口同比增长4.7%，出口同比下降4.9%。上海民营企业表现强劲，占全市贸易总额的30.6%。从区域来看，前两个月，上海与RCEP（《区域全面经济伙伴关系协议》）国家的贸易额同比增长2.5%，而与欧盟的双向贸易则增长了5%。

In early March, Bent Jensen, Divisional CEO of Commercial Building Services of Grundfos, visited the company's China headquarters【总部】 in Shanghai and met with Chinese customers. Tonight we have the second episode in our series "The China Comeback," as our reporter Ye Qingzhuo spoke to Jensen and found out the highlights of the journey.

I'll meet as many of our colleagues as I can. Then I will see our factory in Suzhou, our development center in Suzhou, and then finally go and see our building site, Changshu factory.”

A lot of development has been going on.But we are super dependent on other suppliers. So also in this region, we find a very big and professional set of sub suppliers that support us in building our business, where we can source the components and the paths that we need for us to build our product.”

Chinese market is very important for us to be able to sustain the global business as well. I'm super happy that the business environment in China is welcoming also, that foreign investors are able to play and be an important role here. You see a lot of great things here that even you don't see other parts of the world as well. What I really like about China is the energy level of the people here always wanting to progress and learn more and play a very important role and do things different. I like that energy, which is here.”
