Ann Divine, CEO of Ashanti Leadership and Development Services. Her business provides extensive services in areas such as leadership development, strategic planning, cultural and organizational change management programs through a diversity and inclusion lens. This includes providing professional advice and guidance to corporate businesses, government institutions, non-profits, individuals, and communities.
Having lived on three continents, worked within diverse organizations and communities in senior management positions in London, UK and Canada, Ann has gained a solid understanding of corporate and strategic management.
Her education includes a master’s degree in Human Resource Management, Sociology (Hon) Degree, Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work, Human Rights, Certified Coaching Federation Certificate, Adult Education, and Leadership Development. In 2003, Ann was among the first graduates from the internationally renowned Common Purpose Leadership Program for up-and-coming executives in London, UK.
Ann's work is underpinned by her knowledge and expertise in human rights, people management, and entrepreneurship. Her unique style combined with adult education principles has brought her recognition in her fields of leadership development, change management, diversity and inclusion, conflict management, facilitation, business advice, and more.
Ann is also a visionary and risk-taker. In 2014, she left a very influential management position in government with the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission to focus on her own business full-time. Now the Ashanti Leadership and Professional Development Services name is well recognized. Ann also introduced Unconscious Bias training to her work, pioneering this new concept in Nova Scotia. In 2015, the term was hardly recognized, and now Unconscious Bias has become very popularized in conversation.
Ann is a popular public speaker on social justice, leadership development, entrepreneurship, inclusivity, and her clients appreciate her innovative and creative style. Ann brings a collaborative approach to her work and seeks to work together and partner with associates in her field to develop the capacity of her business and help her to achieve her economic and sustainable goals.
The Halifax Chamber of Commerce featured Ann in February 2020, issue of the Business Voice Magazine and her work to drive Diversity and Inclusion in the Chamber. As well as the My East Coast Magazine, January 2020, featuring “Unconscious Bias - How can Unconscious Bias influence workplace Decisions and Interaction?”
In 2018, Ann was made a Senior consultant at Royer Thompson, an achievement for which she is very proud. She provides guidance and advice when appropriate.
Also, in April 2018, Ann was nominated as one of RBCs Top 25 Immigrants. In November 2017, she received an award from the Halifax Experience publication as one of the “Top 25 Immigrants in the Maritimes”. She was also recognized as one of the Top 5 Immigrant Women in Halifax by My Halifax Experience Magazine 2018.
In January 2017, Ann appeared on the front cover of the all-female edition of the Atlantic Business News Magazine This was a significant achievement because it was the first time the magazine focused on Women as trailblazers.
Ann is well known for her community activities and has provided direction and modeled
leadership through several initiatives and activities.
