There has been this weird rally cry of people telling parents to make sure their Deaf/ hard of hearing kids sit in the front row to get better language access in the classroom.

While this can be helpful as far as the kids seeing, and maybe hearing a little bit better, the advice stops there for parents.

So I’m going to let you in on a little secret that I learned when my kids were in preschool- language and hearing access has far more nuances than just sitting our DHH kids in the front row of the class.

In this podcast episode today I’m going to tell you why this is actually terrible advice to give parents, and why this is not count as a hearing or language accommodation in the classroom. Let’s discuss!
