Hey y'all, welcome back to Samantha's Beauty Confessions.
I’m thrilled to share one of the most heartfelt and enlightening conversations I've ever had on our show. This week, I sat down with the incredible Valerie Olvera, a licensed professional counselor and empowerment coach who specializes in childhood trauma. Together, we peeled back the layers of childhood and generational trauma, exploring how these deep-seated wounds shape who we are and how we interact with the world.
Valerie enlightened us about generational trauma, explaining how emotional wounds can travel silently across generations, subtly influencing our behaviors and life choices. We also dove into the fascinating world of epigenetics, revealing how our genes can carry the echoes of past traumas, affecting our reactions and behaviors in unexpected ways.
During our talk, we discussed how significant life events can trigger old traumas, bringing them to the surface when we least expect it. Recognizing these triggers is the first step on the path to healing. Valerie shared some invaluable tools and techniques for managing and healing from trauma, including therapy methods like EMDR and various mindfulness practices. It’s all about acknowledging our feelings and allowing ourselves to fully experience them.
We also touched on the complex dynamics within families, such as how birth order and family roles might influence how we handle life’s challenges. Plus, dealing with doubts and disbelief from others about your experiences can be tough. Valerie offered some heartfelt advice on how to navigate these challenging interactions, emphasizing the importance of trusting your own journey and feelings.
I shared more about my personal experiences and struggles, hoping to make others feel seen and heard. Valerie’s deep empathy and expert knowledge provided insights that I believe will resonate with many of you.
If Valerie’s approach speaks to you, be sure to check out the links in our episode description. She offers personal coaching and therapy, and you might find her perspectives just what you need to start or continue your healing journey.
This conversation is one I'm so excited to share. Whether you’re navigating your own healing journey or simply seeking to understand more about trauma and resilience, there’s something here for you and I'm excited to keep growing together... one conversation at a time!
