CyberShortwave January 23, 2000 As I have mentioned in the past, sometimes we go way, way back into our archives to allow listeners into a window of how our podcast began. This is an example of that. This show is from January 23, 2000. Dave begins by complaining about connecting to the internet (this was in the days of dial-up connections) Our first musical selection is a Harry Belafonte tune. Dave speaks about other podcasters that he follows. Followed by "The Gypsy Cried" which is a song written by Twyla Herbert & Lou Christie, using his actual name Lugee Sacco, which was released by Lou Christie as a single in 1962. Dave calls “Big Steve Cole” live on Steve's shortwave radio program on WBCQ. "You're Sixteen" is a song written by the Sherman Brothers (Robert B. Sherman and Richard M. Sherman). It was first performed by American rockabilly singer Johnny Burnette. We hear it now. Dave speaks of the upcoming winter SWL fest in Kulpsville, Pa. Later Dave talks of a “NEW” web site called Ebay.com. Dave uses the segment to include some country music into the program. "The Auctioneer" (also known as "The Auctioneer's Song") is a 1956 country song by Leroy Van Dyke. It was co-written with Buddy Black. "That Don't Impress Me Much" is a song co-written and recorded by Canadian singer Shania Twain. It was released in December 1998 as the sixth country single, and seventh single overall, from her third studio album, Come On Over (1997). It was third to pop and fourth to international markets.
