Aloha surfers and beachgoers! This is your go-to surf forecast for the Southern California coast brought to you by the National Weather Service. So grab your boards, wax 'em up, and let's dive into the wave-filled weekend ahead!
Starting off with Malibu Coast and Los Angeles County Beaches. Today, we have a moderate risk of rip currents with surf heights ranging from 2 to 4 feet. The water temperature is a refreshing 56 to 60 degrees, perfect for a morning surf sesh. Expect mixed south and west swells rolling through.
Tomorrow, the rip current risk spikes to high, so please be cautious. Surf heights will be slightly higher at 3 to 5 feet. It's shaping up to be another beautiful day out on the water with those mixed swells continuing.
Moving on to Ventura County Beaches, where we also have a high rip current risk. Surf heights today and tomorrow will be similar to Malibu and LA beaches, ranging from 2 to 4 feet today and picking up to 3 to 5 feet tomorrow, possibly reaching 5 to 7 feet by late afternoon. Mixed swells anticipated for both days.
And for Santa Barbara County beaches, we're looking at a low rip current risk today with smaller waves at 1 to 3 feet. Tomorrow, the risk increases to high with surf heights climbing to 2 to 4 feet, possibly even reaching 5 feet with local sets. Keep an eye out for that west swell coming your way!
Further up the coast, we have San Luis Obispo County Beaches and Santa Barbara Central Coast Beaches. Today, expect surf heights of 4 to 7 feet with a slight chance of thunderstorms. The water temperature is between 53 to 55 degrees, so a wetsuit is a must. Tomorrow, surf heights will build to 5 to 8 feet, potentially reaching 7 to 9 feet with local sets up to 12 feet late in the day. Keep an eye out for that west swell and stay weather-aware for any possible thunderstorms.
Remember, always check for local updates before hitting the waves, wear sunscreen, stay hydrated, and most importantly, have fun out there catching those waves!
