Why leaders must become masterful at dealing with diversity
Diversity may very well be the solution for the challenges facing today’s leaders.
Let yourself consider: How important is “difference” and “diversity” in today’s leadership?
We live in a time where the old school mentality that a leader is the “hero” who will save us is crippling not only politics and the economy, but also the creative genius needed to deal with the challenges we face.
Just stop for a minute and let me ask you a simple question: Do you believe in equality?
Let me be clear, I’m not talking about the theory of equality, I’m am talking about the practicality and implementation of equality?
I’m talking about the kind of equality that encompasses generational, racial, cultural, gender, and even personality type.
It’s not easy!
In the show my Guest Deborah Gilburg of Gilburg Leadership and I are going to be exploring the importance of “working with diversity” & “dealing with difference” as a leadership skill.
We’ll look at how you as a leader can include the various perspectives and voices and discover what different groups can collectively rally around and act upon?
And why the female leadership style makes women dealing with the old school hierarchy become the Rodney Dangerfield of Leadership: “just can’t Get no respect”
Bottom line: Tomorrow’s leaders must become masterful at dealing with diversity.
This is a high level look with a very close examination of what it takes to go from Adversary to Inquiry form Competition to Collaboration and find the very best solutions for the challenges we face.
