This episode focuses on whether Jonah was actually swallowed by a whale, as depicted in the book of Jonah.
After intros and coffee talk (0:00-4:59), the guys begin by giving their initial thoughts and opinions as they answer the question of whether Jonah was really swallowed by a whale or not (5:00-10:15). They then talk about the historicity of Jonah and who he was in real life and when he lived, as well as a brief overview of Israel's history as a nation. They also talk about whether or not this book was actually written by the historical figure of Jonah or not. They also discuss the parabolic nature of the story, and they walk through examples in the Old Testament of descriptions of Israel getting swallowed up by Babylon. They also spend some time discussing the whale itself (10:16-30:55). They then shift into talking about what the book of Jonah means for us today, and they touch on the sign of Jonah and how Jesus identified Himself with Jonah. They conclude by talking again briefly about whether or not Jonah wrote this book, and what the message of the book as a whole is (30:56-48:14).
