Michael B. Parlor is an experienced analyst and commentator on law enforcement, foreign affairs,defense and national security matters.A Federal Bureau of Investigation certified Police Firearms Instructor, has served with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD)for twenty-four years. He served in various assignments including basic patrol, division jails, gang suppression units, and joint federal/local counter-terrorism units. He has assisted with training of law enforcement personnel in the areas of patrol concepts, crimes–in-progress, building searches, and vehicle pullovers.He also served as a technical advisor for LAPD films produced,related to patrol tactics and cultural awareness. He has represented LAPD assisting the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training update curriculum for the State of California, as well as the US Army update the Military Police Field Manual. He represented LAPD as a consultant for the Calibre Press book Tactics for Criminal Patrol.During the Bush Admin War On Terrorism,he was assigned to the US CG Base-LA Joint Operations Center, responsible for ensuring the safety of the harbor areas of LA and Long Beach.Prior to becoming a police officer, Michael served in both the enlisted and officer ranks,coordinating training related to nuclear, biological and chemical warfare, mountain and desert warfare,self-defense tactics, various infantry weapon systems, water safety coordinator, drug/alcohol abuse counselor, and counter-terrorism for active duty as well as reserve USMC personnel.He retired holding the Rank of Major in the Marine Corps Reserve.
